Mario Bonomi is the owner and skipper of the yacht Amalthea. He comes from Brescia, Italy.
He began sailing in the late 1960s and spent many years sailing across the Mediterranean, taking part successfully in major offshore racing events in the 500×2 class.
In the 1990s, Mario Bonomi repeatedly crossed the Atlantic Ocean, becoming fully accustomed to long offshore voyages.
In 2002, after leaving his business activities behind, he set sail with a few friends for the Caribbean—a journey that unfolded in a completely different way for both him and the Amalthea…
