SPIROS
STAVROPOULOS
Spyros G. Stavropoulos was born in Ano Trikala, Corinthia, in 1931. He completed his secondary education in Xylokastro. He studied Medicine at the University of Athens Medical School, specializing in Internal Medicine, and later received further training in the United Kingdom in Cardiology.
While in the UK, he engaged in research work and conducted clinical studies published in leading British medical journals. He also delivered lectures on original topics at Greek and international conferences. In 1967, he settled in Patras, where he practiced medicine privately.
He participated in numerous international medical conferences in cities across Europe, the United States, the Soviet Union, and Japan. He is a member of the Hellenic Cardiological Society, the Society for Peloponnesian Studies, and the International Society for the History of Medicine.
He has published original historical studies in Greek journals and newspapers, as well as the books “The Asclepieia of the Peloponnese” and “History of Trikala, Corinthia.”
