VAROUFAKI
Eleni Varoufaki was a biochemist who worked for many years at the Army Share Fund Hospital (NIMTS). She served as President of the Piraeus Prefectural Committee for Equality, General Secretary of the Association of Greek Women Scientists, and chair of numerous school committees.
From 1986 onward, she was continuously elected as a municipal councillor in Palaio Faliro, and from 1998 to 2000 she served as Deputy Mayor.
She was married to Professor George Varoufakis, with whom she had two children: Yanis Varoufakis, a university professor, politician, and former Minister of Finance of Greece, and Trisevgeni Varoufaki, a judge of the Council of State, Greece’s highest administrative court.
