Loula Karagiannaki was born in Chania in 1958 and later moved to Italy, where she studied and has lived ever since.
After completing her studies, she taught Greek for one year at the School of Translators of the University of Trieste. She was then employed as a translator at a major insurance company, where she worked for thirty years.
At the same time, she worked as a translator between Italian and Greek for various offices, organizations, and publishing houses.
Since 2013, she has been working exclusively as a literary translator, collaborating with both Greek and Italian publishing houses.
The proverbs of our people embody folk wisdom about human nature and possess a timeless quality that continues to amaze.
The proverbs collected through the author’s research are presented in both Greek and English.
The book is enriched with works by the folk painter Theophilos.
