In this book, children will discover the fascinating effort of humankind to measure time—an effort that helped organize life more effectively, date humanity’s progress through history, and record the events that marked its intellectual and social development.
This book belongs to the series Iconography, a series of children’s books designed to convey, in an enjoyable way, basic knowledge and useful information to pre-adolescent children.
Thanasis Exarchopoulos studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts. At the same institution, he was elected Professor of Printmaking in 1982 and directed the School’s Printmaking Workshop.
He has participated in group exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has organized solo exhibitions of painting and printmaking in Athens.
He is a co-creator, together with Mariora Exarchopoulou, of two series of children’s books for preschool and school-age children.
The first series, titled “Sound Images”, includes At the Zoo, The Journey of Water, The Owl, The Fair, Balonis, The Goldfish, The Mouse and Her Daughter, and The Orchestra. It is distinguished by its originality and is considered a landmark in Greek children’s literature.
The second series, known as “Iconography”, consists of The Measurement of Time and Lines, Shapes, Colours. These books are intended for older children.
With the visual framing of the text, children have a better capacity for understanding and more easily absorb concepts and information.
