BYZANTINE VESPER

The chronicle of the last days of the Byzantine Empire and the fall of Constantinople, the Queen of cities, through the narration of Loukas Paschalis, a young doctor and member of an  aristocratic family of Mystras. Love, losses, philosophical quests and reflections compose the hero’s path that intersects with the most important historical personalities of the time: the emperor Constantine Palaiologos, Georgios Frantzis, Georgios Gemistos, Vissarion, Giustiniani, Grand Princess of Moscow Sophia Palaiologina. According to the rationale of the committee that gave Notturno bizantino the Acqui Storia historical novel award in 2016,  the journey and quests of its heroes,  presented with historical sensitivity and knowledge, vividly demonstrate how History becomes  intertwined with people’s stories and how it influences them, while it continues today to ask questions and make comparisons.
