CHILDREN OF GOOD FAMILIES

,

Children of Good Families is a series of unpublished short stories by Loukas Kastanakis, written between 1942 and 1956. The author vividly portrays his era, from the late 19th to the mid-20th century, the places he lived, from pre-revolutionary Russia, Constantinople, Paris and Berlin, to the places of his exile in Greece, as well as the people he met throughout the odyssey of his life, focusing on their passions, their anxieties and suffering, their values and hopes… Poignant, humorous, optimistic, the “cosmopolitan” Kastanakis writes “topical” short stories, with characters reminiscent of those of today, scathing what has been afflicting the Greek for centuries.
