On Saturday nights, in basements and parking lots all over the country, young men take off their shirts and shoes and start fighting each other to the ground. They return to work with bruises, broken teeth and the feeling that they can now cope with anything, even their… insomnia.

They are all members of the Fight Club, an “organization” invented by Tyler Durden, a projectionist and waiter, an unruly, dark figure. And this is just the beginning of his plans for revenge in a world where psychological support groups for cancer patients and other distressed people are the only refuge for those looking for a little human warmth.

Chuck Palahniuk made his debut and established himself with this novel, in which he criticizes society at the end of the twentieth century using his black humor.

Fight Club was successfully adapted to the big screen by David Fincher, in a film starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter.
