THE SILMARILLION

Although it was published last, after Tolkien’s death, the Silmarillion comes first in terms of both time of conception and content included. It is the story of the First Age, which is occasionally referred to by the heroes of the Lord of the Rings, such as Elrond and Galadriel, who were alive at that time as well.

Anyone who has read The Lord of the Rings will now get the full picture of Middle-earth, its peoples and the evolution of their history over the centuries. Whoever, on the contrary, comes to know Tolkien through the Silmarillion, will certainly not stop here.

The Silmarillion is the story of the creation of Middle-earth. It is the history of the peoples who lived through the heroic First Age, much earlier than the events of the Lord of the Rings (Third Age).

In addition to the story of the Silmarils, the jewels made by Fëanor, the book also contains the Music of Einur, the story of the Valar, the fall of Numenor and a chapter on the Rings of Power and the Third Age.

It also tells us how the First Dark Lord, Morgoth, stole the Silmarils and cast them in his iron crown in the fortress of Angbad, and how Feanor and his men began an endless and desperate war against Morgoth to retrieve them. In the book, in addition to the fall of Numenor, there is the wonderful love story of Beren and Luthien
